Exceptional concert Jazz from Romania: Duo Harry Tavitian – Cserey Csaba
The Romanian Information Centre in Brussels with the great support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest organized on Tuesday, April 28th 2009, within the framework of “Jazz from Romania at the Music Village” program, a unique jazz concert by Harry Tavitian (piano, vocal) and Cserey Csaba (drums, percussion).
The duo of Tavitian – Csaba enchanted the public of Brussels, passionate about jazz, with a special journey into the fascinating world of jazz which worthed every minute.
The Romanian cultural background in which the two artists developed, there is an extraordinary melting pot of the Western and Eastern cultural traditions and influences.
Harry Tavitian is an Armenian born in Dobrogea (Eastern Romania, near the Black Sea) at the gates of Eastern world .Cserey Csaba is a székely- secui born in Transylvania, at the gates of the Western world. In their compositions, Tavitian and Csaba reconsider Romanian, Hungarian and Armenian folklore in the idiom of jazz.
Highly acclaimed by an enthusiastic audience, the two maestros of Romanian jazz made a great performance on the stage of the Music Village Club. For the second time in a concert at the Music Village, Harry Tavitian and his good friend Cserey Csaba took us on a journey back in time, starting in the XVII century until nowadays. The beauty of the music they played was really hypnotizing. (2009-04-28; http://crib.mae.ro/index.php?lang=en&id=85507 )
